Jenway 74 & 76 Spectrophotometer Modes

Jenway 74 & 76 Spectrophotometer tutorials: Installation Setup | Performing Modes | Extra Features

Summary

Equipped with CPLive™ technology, the 74 & 76 Series comprises Jenway’s most intuitive and user-friendly spectrophotometers yet. Learn how to optimise your use of the Jenway Spectrophotometer. This series of videos show you how to select and use each of the six measurement modes, save methods, analyse graphical data of particular results, and how to save and upload results.

Photometrics

Touch Photometrics to access, select Wavelength and enter the required value. Save your method. Insert the blank, close the lid, and press measure. Follow the same procedure with your sample. Save your result and upload your data to the CPLive.

Concentration

Touch Concentration to access, select Wavelength and enter the required value.

If you are using a standard select Use Standard:
Change the concentration and units as required. Save your method. Insert the blank, close the lid, and press measure. Follow the same procedure with your standard and your unknown sample. The concentration will be displayed along with the calculated factor.

If you are not using a standard disable Standard:
Enter the required Factor and blank the instrument. Measure the unknown sample. The concentration is calculated as the Absorbance x Factor.

Save all results and upload your data to the CPLive.

Spectrum

Touch Spectrum to access, select Wavelength and enter the required value. Touch scan and select the required value – shorter intervals will give more detailed scans but will take longer to run. Select Absorbance or %T. Save your method. Insert the blank, close the lid, and press measure. Follow the same procedure with your sample. Save the result and upload your data to the CPLive.

Touch Analysis, choose between ‘Peaks and valleys’ and ‘Area under curve’.

‘Peaks and valleys’
View/expand the graph area for more detail on points of interest (wavelength, Abs, %T). You can also Add points and change threshold levels to eliminate small peaks.

‘Area under curve’
Select the area of interest on the graph. This area can be measured from the baseline or from the tangent between the intersects of the cursors with the graph.

To scan further samples using the same parameters select Run again

Save all results and upload your data to the CPLive.

Multi-Wavelength

Touch Multi-Wavelength to access, select Wavelength 1. Repeat for Wavelength 2 up to Wavelength 4. Remove any additional wavelengths and select an equation, which can be used to calculate ratios, add, subtract, and multiply values. Apply factors if required. Save your method. Insert the blank, close the lid, and press measure ensuring the instrument is blanked at each wavelength. Measure your sample. To scan further samples using the same parameters select Run again. Save all results and upload your data to the CPLive.

Kinetics

Touch Multi-Wavelength to access, select Wavelength and enter the required value. Select and enter run time, interval, lag time, absorbance, and concentration factor if known. Apply factors and save your method. Insert the blank, close the lid, and press measure. Follow the same procedure with your sample. Save the result and upload your data to the CPLive. Touch Analysis and select the region of interest to view the rate of change and end-point concentration. To scan further samples using the same parameters select Run again.

Quantitation

Touch Quantitation to access, select Wavelength and enter the required value. Select replicates and concentration units. Measure your standard replicates for the standard curve. Save and set the Curve fit to suit the data. Apply parameters and save your method. Measure your unknown sample to determine its concentration. Save the result and upload your data to the CPLive.
