More About this Item

Use the EoS cassettes with a portable Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) instrument for fast on-site sample analysis. The filter section of a four-piece sampling cassette is removed and placed in a portable FTIR where it is examined and analyzed in one to two minutes, so immediate controls can be implemented if needed. FTIR uses a software program called FAST (Field Analysis of Silica Tool) developed by NIOSH to sort and organize respirable crystalline silica exposure data.

The preloaded PVC filter membrane contains no silica, has very low ash properties, and features stainless steel supports for added durability.

Ensure accuracy while eliminating the inconvenience of preweighing filters by using a preweighed, preloaded filter cassette. A preweighed filter meets the methods for gravimetric analysis requiring filters to be weighed both before and after sampling. Each filter, equilibrated to 68°F (±1.0°F) and 50% (±1%) relative humidity, is weighed using a high-accuracy microbalance to within 0.00001 g. Once weighed, the filter is placed into the cassette and sealed with a red band ensuring tamper resistance. A label indicating membrane description, membrane weight, and a unique serial number makes it easy to identify the cassette.

Since the environmental conditions can have a significant effect on filter weight reading, post sample weighing should be performed under the same environmental conditions.
