Quickly and easily take noncontact surface temperature measurements up to 1300 °C (2372 °F) with the TG56-2 IR thermometer. It features a high distance-to-target size ratio of 30:1, making it possible to measure relatively small targets from a safe distance. The meter also accepts a type K thermocouple probe for contact temperature measurements*. Use the thermocouple to help find the correct emissivity value. The emissivity setting is correct if contact and noncontact temperature measurements of the same spot result in the same reading. Emissivity is adjustable in 0.01 increments from 0.01 to 1.00. Set up to five preset emissivity values, allowing you to easily switch between commonly used settings.

View the current reading and a selected reference temperature reading (min, max, avg, dif) simultaneously on the 1.57” color EBTN (Enhanced Black Twisted Nematic) display. Each time the trigger is pulled and held (SCAN mode), the meter tracks the maximum, minimum, average, and differential readings. Program up to five high/low alarm setpoints. An alarm triggers when a temperature measurement exceeds programmed limits.

Store readings manually or automatically on the meter. The meter features two separate memory banks, one for the manual logger and one for the automatic logger, each storing up to 99 readings with date/time stamp, alarm status, and emissivity setting. A convenient tripod mount allows for hands-free operation.

*Do not use the included type K thermocouple to measure surface temperatures that exceed 260 °C (500 °F); damage to the thermocouple and meter will result.
