August 30, 2017, Charleston, SC — StableWeigh™ vessels, from Environmental Express, are now approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a vessel that replaces crucibles for total solids (TS) and total dissolved solids (TDS) analysis and is included in the 23rd edition of Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater™.
Standard Methods is the water and wastewater industry’s trusted source of accurate and proven methodology for analysis of natural water, water supplies and wastewater. It is published by the American Public Health Association, the American Water Works Association, and the Water Environment Federation.

StableWeigh vessels reduce time spent preparing, weighing, cooling, and cleaning evaporation vessels. Each StableWeigh vessel is preweighed with the tare weight printed on it, so it’s ready to use right out of the box. The vessels are inert to common water and wastewater components, and heat resistant at the temperature required by the method. The vessels do not hold as much heat energy and will cool much faster. Because StableWeigh vessels weigh much less than a traditional glass or ceramic crucible, they give results with greater precision and accuracy. Combined, these factors reduce the number of drying and weighing cycles needed to obtain a constant weight. Once the analysis is complete, the StableWeigh vessels can be disposed of which eliminates the need for washing and the possibility of carryover contamination from one sample to the next.
