When recording temperature measurements of your vaccines’ or samples’ critical environments, a seemingly obvious but often overlooked point is that you are only ever recording the temperature of the sensor in your device. This can present direct errors, when there are discrepancies between the sample temperature and what is being captured by your temperature measurement device. To overcome this challenge, select a temperature instrument with a probe. A variety of Traceable® temperature instruments are equipped with probes. Some of the instruments have interchangeable probes, while others come with one specific probe. They are specifically designed to capture accurate temperature readings under different conditions. Bottle probes are used to record the temperature of liquids stored in temperature-controlled environments. The 25-mL bottle is filled with a patented non-toxic glycol solution that is Generally Recognised as Safe (GRAS) by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), eliminating concerns of incidental contact with food or drinking water. The solution-filled bottles simulate the temperature conditions of other stored liquids in the fridge or freezer, producing accurate readings for the liquids in that environment. Additionally, it eliminates fluctuations in the temperature readings can

used by opening and closing of fridge doors, which may be seen when using other types of probes.

Like the bottle probes, vaccine bottle probes are also filled with a non-toxic glycol solution. The 5-mL bottle mimics the liquid and volume of a standard vaccine sample to produce accurate temperature readings for vials in storage. The probes are also designed to fit perfectly into standard vaccine trays and simulate storage condition to accurately capture temperature changes.

Bullet probes

The bullet probe is suitable for accurately recording temperatures of both liquids and gases. The sensor can be completely immersed in a fluid for precise temperature monitoring of both liquid products or liquid mediums that are often used to store and transport dangerous or flammable chemicals.

Stainless steel probes can withstand both cold and hot temperatures; and therefore, are ideal for capturing a broader temperature range compared to many of its counterparts. It is suitable for measuring temperatures of gases, liquids, and semi-solids, making it ideal for a wide array of products, samples, specimens and reagents.
